MEET THE CO-FOUNDERS
Amber Nesbitt
Amber Nesbitt built and led the Sexual Allegations Unit (SAU) for the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) Office of Inspector General, the only independent investigative body in the nation with jurisdiction over a broad range of sexual misconduct complaints involving K-12 school-based staff and students.
Over six years as the Deputy Inspector General, she supervised 30+ investigators, attorneys, and others handling 450+ complaints each school year. Amber has been recognized for her steady leadership and creative problem-solving abilities, developing customized solutions to manage the high complaint volume despite limited resources available, always prioritizing regulatory compliance, investigatory excellence, and student safety.
While honoring the inspector general’s commitment to independence, Amber also proactively collaborated with other district leaders to improve policies, develop training programs, and harness SAU data to identify weaknesses and systemic concerns to bolster the district's sexual misconduct prevention efforts.
In August 2024, Amber was appointed by Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson as the Interim Inspector General, overseeing office General Investigations Unit and Performance Analysis Unit, while continuing to lead the SAU. She navigated complicated legal issues, managed 55 staff members, and handled numerous press inquiries into high-profile investigations.
Prior to joining the OIG, Amber was an accomplished litigator and partner at a boutique law firm focused on high-stakes antitrust, employment-based sexual harassment, and consumer fraud litigation. She also served as General Counsel for three affiliated companies managing all legal needs on a wide variety of matters, ranging from regulatory compliance to employment discrimination matters.
Amber obtained her B.A. from the University of Michigan and her J.D. magna cum laude from Loyola University Chicago School of Law.
